In his life, Edward Gorey had up to six cats at a time living with him as companions in his New York apartment and his home on Cape Cod. His illustrations of his feline friends’ personalities and quirks were a common topic of his art, even culminating in Gorey lending his imagination to the book jacket and interior illustrations for Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats by T.
